Tara eBook John V Skarzenski

This debut novel by John V. Skarzenski, "Tara" tells the story of two characters who are transformed by the unexpected relationship they form. As the reader, I, too underwent a metamorphosis, as I became increasingly mesmerized by the conflicts and challenges the characters faced, and anticipated how they might move toward resolution. In the end, both my imagination and my heart were captured. An original theme and set of circumstances makes this book a complete winner.

Tara eBook John V Skarzenski Reviews

I'm a Sasquatch believer but have never seen one, of course; I just happen to think they exist. It's always fun to read how others minds conceive them and how both we and they would possibly react to a close, personal encounter with each other. Given the chance to get acquainted, what might we discover about the other and ourselves in the process?
Spoilers!
Tara has turned out to be one of the best books I’ve read this summer. The story is eye-catching from the first page, and the author balances pacing and development almost perfectly to keep you reading to the end. The author’s handling of the Sasquatch topic is wonderfully done. His imagining of the species is wholly different from what we hear about it, and kept me interested especially when he went into Tara’s mindset and way of life before she met her human protector. When she does meet him, she is humanized from inside and out, a process that is fascinating to watch.
Her guardian, Scott Bradley, turns out to be a man well worth paying attention to. From the moment he moves away from his family, we know his life is going to change, and probably for the better. The book details his struggle to rehabilitate himself back to loving life and enjoying it- things he lost in his struggles with his ex-wife early on. The relationships he forms are also worth paying attention to, as they help polish Scott’s personality and give us a deep and exciting world outside of him to explore.
The two coupled tales- Tara’s humanization and Scott’s rehabilitation are alone interesting enough to delve into, but the author amplifies it with his writing, which is actually quite modern and engaging, as is the humor. This leads to quirky and cute scenes in the midst of the very serious overarching plot, something I appreciate as a reader. The side characters- Rhoda, Julie, Ginny, Barry, Suzie, Max, and Jack- each have storylines that kept me absolutely hooked. The author did a wonderful job with all of them.
While the main character is a Bigfoot, this book is less of a tale about the Bigfoot mystery than it is about a courageous man who changes his life and everyone else he meets along the way. That, along with everything else, makes this a 5 any day.
Well done!
Enjoyed this book. It was a page turner. Hope this author will write another book soon.
A thoroughly enjoyable read. The title character is quite believable and a fresh imagining of the "Bigfoot" character. I hope to see more from Mr Skarzenski in the future.
A surprisingly strong first effort from the author. Well written, perhaps paced a bit slowly out of the gate, but soon up to speed with several unexpected twists and turns. I found myself three quarters of the way through thinking "great story, but I hope the ending doesn't disappoint". Well, it's a very strong ending that tugged at my heartstrings and left me very satisfied!!! Way to go "Brother John"!
